Former city or Piedmont summit gate, it closes the top of the city. It is preceded by a half-moon comprising a guardhouse named "d'Artagnan" which once housed the soldiers who were responsible for its surveillance.

On the principles of Vauban and in order to show the greatness of the kingdom, it offers to the sight of the enemy a majestic decoration with classical style boss composed of two pilasters and a triangular pediment.
