Architect: Sylvain-Joseph Ravel
Date: 1880
Overlooking the beach whose name it bears, Villa la Péguière was built for Edouard Siegfried, a Swiss merchant, on land he bought in 1874. The architect was Sylvain Joseph Ravel. The villa, built on the seafront, overlooks the customs officers' path and the bay. The elements of the decor are of oriental inspiration: the horseshoe and Persian arches, columns with Egyptian-style capitals, a trefoil frieze under the cornice. The overhanging roof evokes the Anglo-Norman style. The park is planted with jubaea, cupressus and Aleppo pines.
In 1896, Edouard Siegfried's daughter, Marie Louise, inherited it. The young woman married Lieutenant Martin in 1901. The villa has remained in the family ever since.
In 1944, two days after
landing of August 15, Captain Robert Morris, commander of the Dramont assault group, installs his PC at Villa La Péguière to direct the operations to reinforce the supply of the liberating troops.
