Dramont beach
Audio guide in English
The Cap du Dramont carries the main semaphore of the region, in a preserved natural site, where the flora is particularly rich.
The landing beach, just south of the cape, is an important site for the Allied landings in Provence (World War II).
Opposite the Cap du Dramont, 200 meters away, is the Ile d'Or, an island of about 200 m long, on which is built a square tower in medieval but modern style.
The red rock (rhyolite) is characteristic of the entire Esterel massif; it is of volcanic origin and dates from the Permian (primary era).
Other rarer blue rocks (esterellite) result from tertiary era magmatism and are mined in large quarries in the Dramont district.
